Labor Relations

We create and promote a work environment that fosters a positive and effective relationship between labor and management.

We represent the Mayor, the City, and City Departments in all labor matters. This includes matters before state courts and agencies, and other forums.

Labor Relations also negotiates and administers the City's collective bargaining agreements with the Unions that represent City of Boston employees. There are approximately 21 bargaining units covering 7,500 City employees. We also offer training and advice to managers and supervisors on labor matters.
