Heat Emergency in Boston

Mayor Wu announced a heat emergency in the City of Boston through Wednesday, July 17. Cooling centers will be open at 14 BCYF community centers Monday through Wednesday, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Active Living and Fitness

​The Boston Public Health Commission strives to support the physical activity of Boston residents by providing free fitness classes, supporting active transportation, and promoting other opportunities to get active.

 

The Boston Parks Summer Fitness Series will run from May 5 through August 31 and include in-person and virtual classes in parks throughout Boston! Everyone is welcome at our free classes, regardless of your fitness level. Scroll down for the full schedule and links to sign up! For more information and cancellations, check Facebook and Instagram at @bostonparksdept and @healthyboston.

Note: There will be no classes held on Monday, May 27 (Memorial Day), Wednesday, June 19 (Juneteenth), and Thursday, July 4 (Independence Day).

This initiative is a partnership between the Boston Parks and Recreation Department and the Boston Public Health Commission. It's sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.

MFFC promotes healthy behaviors through its networks and its partnerships with other organizations. MFFC provides leadership through community engagement.
A group of community organizations working together to promote child health and wellness in East Boston.
Promotes the independence, dignity, and well-being of the elderly and disabled.
Dedicated to improving the health of mind, body, and spirit of individuals and families in our communities. We welcome men and women, boys and girls of all incomes, faiths and cultures.
Provides Boston families with the tools and resources needed to live healthy and active lives as part of the hospital’s community mission. It is also designed to help motivate families to set goals and participate in fitness and nutrition activities.
All Dorchester Sports and Leadership Committed to providing the youth of Dorchester with resources to be healthy, active members of the community. They strive to provide the support that will allow children to grow into happy, successful adults, and to accommodate the evolving needs of this unique and wonderful community. 
A nonprofit organization dedicated to providing high-quality fitness opportunities and health education for women and children in Boston neighborhoods in order to prevent and treat chronic diseases, improve health and fitness and promote well-being and empowerment.
The Phoenix

The Phoenix is passionate about helping individuals create vibrant lives in sobriety, and Massachusetts is a great state to get connected with The Phoenix recovery community. They host classes, including yoga, HIIT, CrossFit, book clubs, and social meetups.  Membership cost is 48 hours of sobriety.
