Flood Survey
Submit information about stormwater flooding in Boston!
The Project
The Boston Community-Based Flood Resilience and Green Infrastructure Planning project is a collaborative initiative between the City of Boston's Office of Green Infrastructure, the city's 3 watershed associations - the Charles River, Mystic River and Neponset River Watershed Associations - and many Boston community groups that engages the public in collecting much-needed information about where we see flooding in Boston.
The goals of the project are to:- Build on existing data to develop a comprehensive understanding of precipitation-based flooding impacts in Boston.
- Crowdsource flooding occurrences, impacts, and possible solutions.
- In collaboration with the public, identify on the ground actions, with a focus on green infrastructure, that will reduce stormwater flooding in Boston as the climate changes.
- Identify policy actions or regulatory changes the City could take that will reduce stormwater flooding impacts.
- Develop an action plan for reducing precipitation-based flooding that is backed by technical analysis and informed by residents.
This work is was funded by the State's Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Grant Program and will take place over the next two years.
