StreetCaster
We're bringing equity to street repairs in the City of Boston.
Through the StreetCaster program, we'll be taking a more equitable approach to providing resources for infrastructure. To start, we'll focus on sidewalk replacements and repairs.
The City will create new networks of sidewalks in areas that need them most. At the same time, we plan to improve the way we handle resident requests for repairs through the City’s 311 system.

What we're doing
The program is currently a finalist in the Bloomberg Philanthropies 2018 Mayors Challenge. Public Works and the Mayor's Office of New Urban Mechanics will be testing and prototyping ideas in the spring and summer of 2018.
The areas we're focusing on include:
- how we plan infrastructure work
- how we do infrastructure work, and
- resident experience and communication.
As we progress through the planning phases of the program, we'd love to hear from you!
- Public Works
- the Department of Innovation and Technology, and
- other City agencies and community partners.
We're interested in learning about new sidewalk repair materials, technologies, and techniques as part of the StreetCaster program.

Sidewalk maps
Public Works is identifying networks of sidewalks to focus on for reconstruction work. In this section, you can find maps for each neighborhood of the City.
These maps highlight preliminary networks of sidewalk that we have identified. Please note: these are preliminary networks. The program is still evolving as we discuss it with residents each week.
