Community Preservation Act Completed Projects Guide
To date, the Community Preservation Program has funded 346 projects and has awarded over $192 million in funding. CPA funds have supported 54 affordable housing projects, 133 open space and recreation projects, and 159 historic preservation projects from 2018-2024.
This guide provides residents with the opportunity to visit completed projects in our three funding categories:
- Affordable Housing
- Open Space and Recreation, and
- Historic Preservation.
By touring these sites, residents and visitors alike can explore all of the benefits that the CPA program has brought to neighborhoods across Boston.

Affordable Housing
Safe, stable, affordable housing is a need across all Boston neighborhoods if the city is to remain a healthy and welcoming place for existing and new residents.
Open Space and Recreation
Open space and outdoor recreation have many benefits for both people and the environment.

Historic buildings, landscapes, and resources are defining elements in Boston’s sense of place.
Public Benefit
Under the Community Preservation Act (CPA), providing public benefits is not just important for legal reasons (i.e., to comply with the Anti-Aid Amendment of the Massachusetts Constitution) but also as a policy to target the use of CPA funds to promote the greatest level of public good through direct and positive community impacts. We invite you to explore, both virtually and in person, the abundance of completed projects funded by the Community Preservation Fund (CPF), which have in multiple ways created lasting impacts on the vibrancy and resilience of Boston’s unique neighborhoods.
