City Council Committee Of The Whole Hearing On Dockets #1670 #1507 #1508

Order for a hearing regarding voter accessibility and election preparedness.

Message and order requesting and recommending that the city hold in-person early voting for both the September 9, 2025 Preliminary Municipal Election and the November 4, 2025 Municipal Election, in accordance with the provisions of G.L. c.54 § 25B (c)(1), which provides a local option to allow for in-person early voting, upon the request of the registrars of the City of Boston.

Message and order at the recommendation of the Chair of the Board of Election Commissioners for the approval of an order fixing the date of the 2025 Preliminary Municipal Election as September 9, 2025.

These matters were sponsored by Councilors Ruthzee Louijeune, Enrique Pepén, and Erin Murphy (Docket #1670) and Mayor Michelle Wu (Dockets #1507 #1508)  and were referred to the Committee on November 6, 2024 (Docket #1670) and October 9, 2024 (Dockets #1507 and #1508).

NOTICE: The Boston City Council may have a quorum in attendance due to standing committees of the City Council consisting of both voting and non-voting members. However, members attending this duly posted meeting are participating and deliberating only in conjunction with the business of the standing committee.
