Edward Coburn, Esq.

Assistant Commissioner, Legal Division

Attorney Edward Coburn serves as in house counsel for the Inspectional Services Department advising the Commissioner and Senior Staff in regulatory enforcement and legislative matters. Attorney Coburn represents ISD in litigation to enforce the Boston Zoning Code, Building and Sanitary Codes, and Municipal Ordinances and supervises the Assistant Corporation Counsel, paralegals, assistants, and law clerks in the Legal Division.  He also oversees the drafting and preparation of Zoning Board of Appeal decisions and provides legal support to the ZBA.

Attorney Coburn is a member of Massachusetts Municipal Lawyers Association, a participant in the Boston Housing Court Bench/Bar Forum and presents frequently at seminars and training sessions.

Admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, Attorney Coburn previously worked as a litigation associate with Taylor, Duane, Barton & Gilman LLP, a mid-size, Boston and Providence firm.  He is a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law in Boston and the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Ma.
