Traffic Advisory - St. Patrick's Day Pararde

The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, as well as the annual South Boston Boys and Girls Club Road Race, will be held in South Boston on Sunday, March 20, 2016.  The parade and related events will result in street closures and traffic detours in South Boston and the surrounding area, and reduce on-street parking availability.  Those coming into South Boston for the festivities are strongly encouraged not to drive their personal vehicles.  Information on Hubway may be found on their website, and information on the MBTA may be found on their website as well.

The parade will begin at 1 PM on West Broadway at Dorchester Avenue.  All streets along the following parade route will be closed to traffic from 10 AM to 4 PM.

  • The route will take marchers left onto East Broadway, right onto P Street, right onto East Fourth Street, left onto K Street, right onto East Fifth Street left onto G Street, right onto Thomas Park, left onto Telegraph Street, left onto Dorchester Street, ending at Dorchester Avenue.    In addition, Dorchester Avenue, from Gillette Park to Old Colony Avenue, will also be closed to traffic for parade related purposes.

The road race will begin at 11 AM on West Sixth Street and will end at Noon.

  • The route will take runners to Dorchester Street, right onto East Broadway, down and around the Farragut Statue at Day Boulevard, to East Broadway, right onto West Broadway, left onto E Street, left onto West Sixth Street, ending at the Boys and Girls Club at #230 West Sixth Street.

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Sunday” temporary parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.

E Street at West Broadway on the West Third Street side

L Street at East Broadway on the East Third Street side

Old Colony Avenue at Dorchester Street on the inbound side

Thomas Park, South Boston High School side, from G Street to opposite #1 Thomas Park

Dorchester Avenue, both sides, from Gillette Park to Old Colony Avenue, and, both sides, from Andrew Square to Von Hillern Street
