Governor Baker signs bill repealing archaic Massachusetts laws

Last week, Governor Baker signed S. 2260, which repealed a number of archaic laws that targeted women.

This issue was recently brought up by Councilor Pressley, who offered a resolution to the state government that the Act be passed.

With the Governor’s approval, this Act has repealed several harmful restrictions on abortions that have not been paid any attention for several decades. This comes at a time when people are growing more and more concerned that Brett Kavanaugh’s potential nomination to the Supreme Court could lead to the repeal of Roe v. Wade and subsequently a massive change in abortion laws in the United States. The repeal of these archaic laws sets a tone for Massachusetts that safeguarding those rights is a priority.
