Veronica B. Smith Senior Center

Founded in 1981 as the Allston-Brighton Senior Center, the center officially opened its doors in 1982. 

Renamed in 1985 the Veronica B. Smith Multi-Service Senior Center after its founder, the center officially became part of Age Strong in 2001.

About the Center

Health and Nutrition Services

Our center offers a hot lunch program every day Monday-Friday provided by ETHOS. We offer educational workshops and seminars pertaining to health and nutrition- bringing in guest speakers from local organizations including St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, the Alzheimer’s Association, MA Council on Aging & many more. We offer exercise classes daily including Strength Training, Yoga, Zumba, Tai Chi, Qi-Gong and Ballroom Dance. We offer several preventative screenings throughout the year including dental with Tufts Dental School and Physical Therapy with P.T. in the Community. See our Calendar for Updated Events!

 

Direct Services and Programming

A wide range of services can be obtained at the center. We have daily programming that includes adult education, arts-based activities, music and entertainment, social activities and games, Book Club, Outings, and much more! We offer SHINE (Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone) Counseling weekly. We host seminars and workshops on legal issues and government health benefits. Comprehensive programs targeted for seniors in the greatest economic and social need are also in place. See Our Calendar for Daily Programming!

"Senior Spotlight" is a monthly newsletter published and distributed by the Veronica Smith Senior Center. "Senior Spotlight" reaches hundreds of older adults and dozens of community locations such as nursing homes and elderly housing. Topics include issues such as health benefits, upcoming programs and services available at the Center.
