Mackendy Joseph

Mayor's Youth Councilor

Mackendy Joseph (he/him) is a first-time councilor from Boston Preparatory Charter Public School. He is Haitian-American and from Hyde Park. Mackendy joined MYC because he believes that teenagers in his community often lack the opportunity to voice their concerns about rules and policies that directly impact them. Many school governments struggle to create lasting change, but Mackendy sees MYC as a platform where he can bring his creative ideas to a political environment and make a meaningful impact. Mackendy is passionate about public health. He feels as if it is the aspect of the medical care system that allows communities to trust, understand, and navigate the care system, though it is not often stressed or publicized as other aspects of the health care system. In the future, Mackendy would like to go to medical school and become a pediatric cardio thoracic surgeon.

In his free time, Mackendy likes to enjoy time with friends. He loves to do math and is good at video games.
