Zengel Chin

BERDO Review Board Assistant

Zengel “Ziggy” Chin is part of the City’s Carbon Neutrality team assisting the BERDO Review Board’s mission in implementing the Building Emissions Reduction and Disclosure Ordinance (BERDO). Zengel works closely with the Board and Review Board Manager to help the City reach its goal of carbon net neutrality by 2050 and to help ensure that Environmental Justice communities benefit from a more sustainable Boston.

Prior to joining the Environment Department in March 2024, Zengel worked for Veolia North America as an environmental specialist where she was responsible for complying with EPA and DOT regulations to ensure the proper disposal of hazardous materials. Zengel earned her Bachelor’s in Biology with a minor in Environmental Studies from Boston College. Zengel is a proud immigrant of Costa Rica. In her free time, she enjoys swimming and exploring Boston’s food scene.
