1672 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend
the amount of Fifteen Million Nine Hundred Four Thousand Nine Hundred
Seventy‑Six Dollars and Fifty‑Six Cents ($15,904,976.56) in the form of a
grant for the EDA Good Jobs Challenge, awarded by the United States
Department of Commerce to be administered by the Office of Workforce
Development. The grant will fund technical training, project planning, and
infrastructure assistance in regions experiencing adverse economic
changes.
1673 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the
amount of Eleven Million Nine Hundred Fifty‑Two Thousand Nine
Hundred Eighty‑Six Dollars ($11,952,986.00) in the form of a grant, for the
FY2024 Urban Area Security Initiative, awarded by the United States
Department of Homeland Security, passed through the MA Executive
Office of Public Safety and Security, to be administered the Mayor's Office
of Emergency Preparedness. The grant will fund the enhancement of
regional preparedness and capabilities in designated high‑threat,
high‑density areas.
1674 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the
amount of Four Million Four Hundred Sixty Thousand Eight Hundred
Ninety‑Seven Dollars ($4,460,897.00) in the form of a grant, for the FFY24
Lead Paint Hazard Reduction Grant Program, awarded by the United States
Department of Housing & Urban Development to be administered by the
Mayor’s Office of Housing. The grant will fund abatement, inspection, risk
assessment, temporary relocation, and interim control of lead‑based paint
hazards in eligible privately owned, single‑family and multi‑family housing
units that are occupied by low‑income families.
1675 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the
amount of Two Million Three Hundred Five Thousand Eight Hundred
Forty‑Seven Dollars ($2,305,847.00) in the form of a grant for the FY24
Regional Catastrophic Preparedness grant, awarded by the United States
Department of Homeland Security, passed through the Federal Emergency
Management Agency, to be administered by the Mayor's Office of
Emergency Preparedness. The grant will fund regional planning efforts to
manage catastrophic incidents, including extreme weather events and their
impact.
1676 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the
amount of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) in the form of a grant for
the Securing the Cities Continuation Grant, awarded by the United States
Department of Homeland Security to be administered by the Police
Department. The grant will fund continued enhancements for regional
capabilities to detect, identify, report, and interdict nuclear and other
radioactive materials out of regulatory control and provide regional training
and exercise opportunities necessary to enhance regional capabilities.
1677 Message and order for your approval an appropriation Order in the amount
of Nine Hundred Twenty‑Five Thousand Dollars ($925,000.00) for
Cemetery Division of the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Trust
Office of the Treasury Department to be funded from the Cemetery Trust
Fund established under Chapter 13 of the Acts of 1961.
1678 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the
amount of Six Hundred Forty‑Four Thousand Four Hundred Fifty‑Eight
Dollars ($644,458.00) in the form of a grant, for the US Inflation Reduction
Act, awarded by the USDA Forest Service Urban and Community Forestry
to be administered by the Office of Workforce Development. The grant will
fund to grow an accessible, inclusive, and resilient urban forest.
1679 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the
amount of Three Hundred Five Thousand Six Hundred Dollars
($305,600.00) in the form of a grant, for the FY25 Local Cultural Council
Program, awarded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council to be
administered by the Office of Arts and Culture. The grant will fund
innovative arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences programming that
enhances the quality of life in the City of Boston.
1680 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the
amount of One Hundred Ten Thousand Dollars ($110,000.00) in the form
of a grant, for the FY25 DMH Co‑Response Grant, awarded by the MA
Department of Mental Health to be administered by the Police Department.
The grant will fund two full‑time recovery coaches through BEST and
provide training to officers.
1681 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the
amount of One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00) in the form of a
grant for the FY25 DMH Training Grant, awarded by the MA Department
of Mental Health to be administered by the Police Department. The grant
will fund to reimburse overtime cost to backfill Crisis Intervention Team
training and other mental health trainings for officers.
1682 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the
amount of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) in the form of a grant, for
the FY25 Massachusetts Budget Earmark, for the Hyde Park Community
Center, awarded by the MA Executive Office of Economic Development to
be administered by Administrative Services. The grant will fund excursions
and cultural trips for the Hyde Park Community Center.
1683 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the
amount of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) in the form of a grant, for
the FY25 Massachusetts Budget Earmark, awarded by the MA Executive
Office of Economic Development to be administered by Administrative
Services. The grant will fund the Senior Program at the Roche Community
Center and will provide a variety of social, educational, and recreational
activities designed to meet the physical, mental, and emotional needs of
older adults in the community.
1684 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend an
in‑kind donation of a trailer and stage, valued at Seven Thousand Five
Hundred Dollars ($7,500.00), donated to the Fund for Boston
Neighborhood, Inc. The purpose of this donation is to support the annual
Mayor’s Enchanted Trolley Tour stopping in neighborhoods across the City
of Boston each December to bring joy to children and families.
1685 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend an
in‑kind donation of 200 Turkeys, valued at Four Thousand One Hundred
Ninety Dollars ($4,190.00) donated by Roche Brothers. The purpose of this
donation is to provide turkeys for Thanksgiving to families in the City of
Boston.
