Barbados Celebrates 57 Years

November 30 of 2023 marks the 57th anniversary of Barbados' Independence Day.

Out of the 4,704 foreign-born Barbadians in Massachusetts, around 2,595 reside in Boston. Barbados ranks as the 15th largest country of origin among Boston's foreign-born population, making up 1.5% of the city's total foreign-born residents. Over half of Barbadians in Massachusetts call Boston home.

The Barbadian community has significantly enriched and enhanced the cultural, social, and economic tapestry of the City of Boston through various facets including business, sports, politics, education, dance, literature, and the arts.

This week, in commemoration of Barbados' 57th Independence Day, the City Council adopted a resolution honoring the Barbados’ anniversary and directed the Property Management Department to raise the Barbados flag over City Hall Plaza.
