Advocacy Efforts
UNDERSTANDING THE UNSHELTERED COMMUNITY AT MASS AND CASS
The Coordinated Response Team recognizes that the opioid crisis is a nationwide public health emergency. As such, we must act and plan beyond “Mass & Cass” to address the roots of this crisis. The Coordinated Response Team is dedicated to rebuilding the Long Island Bridge, to reopening the island as a recovery campus, and to ensuring a comprehensive continuum of care for those affected by substance use disorders.
building a regional coalition
The Coordinated Response Team recently worked with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council and the Metropolitan Mayors Coalition to identify a set of substance use disorder-related legislative and advocacy priorities. Including Mayor Wu, the following letter was signed by 14 mayors, town managers, and city managers across Massachusetts and sent to Governor Maura Healey on April 24th, 2023. For more information on this letter, please go to the Our Advocacy section.
