Project Goals

In 2018, Arx Urban broke ground on a 36-unit mixed-income housing development at the intersection of Dorchester's Jones Hill, Meetinghouse Hill and Savin Hill neighborhoods -- including 21 deed-restricted, affordable units. Arx Urban acquired the 15,000 square foot site, currently consisting of two auto body shops in 2017. The goal of the project is to create additional workforce housing in a transit-oriented, supply-constrained neighborhood.

The site is a 10-minute walk to the Savin Hill Red Line subway station and across the street from the future Dot Block development. Arx Urban engaged local architect, RODE, to design the project and completed City of Boston Article 80 Small Project Review, conducting over 20 meetings with neighborhood associations, abutters and community leaders. The approved project consists of 36 residential units with a mix of affordability, ground-floor retail space, a lobby gallery, bike storage, off-street parking and an enhanced streetscape.
