City Council Recognizes International Cape Verdean Women’s Day
In 1983, Women’s Organization of Cape Verde (OMCV) proposed March 27 to be Kriola’s International Day or International Cape Verdean Women’s Day.
International Cape Verdean Women’s Day is celebrated annually to recognize the contributions and achievements of Cape Verdean women around the world.
Massachusetts is home to the largest population of Cape Verdeans, with over 13,000 Cape Verdean residents in Boston. Cape Verdean women have played a vital role in the development and progress of our city, bringing with them their rich cultural heritage, resilience and commitment to community.
The Council recognizes the contributions and achievements of Cape Verdean women in our city and encourages all residents to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Cape Verdean Bostonians.
