The Urban Wilds Program and the National Park Service need your help! Come join us in “an international effort for people to find and document plants and wildlife in cities across the globe. It’s a competition where cities are in a friendly contest with each other to see who can make the most observations of nature, who can find the most species, and who can engage the most people”. We will focus on exploring the plants and animals of this salt marsh as well as the surrounding rocky shore and upper grassland. The species information we find will be helpful in guiding additional restoration efforts at this Urban Wild.

Please note:
  • No online registration. You can drop in and leave at any time between 1 - 4 p.m.
  • No expertise or experience required. But, bring sturdy and waterproof shoes, and your curiosity!

The California Academy of Sciences logo is on the right and Los Angeles County logo is on the left.

We will use iNaturalist for our nature observations, so we recommend you arrive with the app downloaded. iNaturalist tutorials will happen at 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. This program will be largely self-directed and is family-friendly for ages 6 and up.
