How You Can Help End Homelessness

You can help someone experiencing homelessness. Donate clothes, food, or volunteer your time.

If you’re at immediate risk of becoming homeless, call the Office of Housing Stability at 617-635-4200, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. For help outside these hours, please contact BOS:311. You can dial 3-1-1 or call 617-635-4500.

These Organizations Can Help

Where to Volunteer

  • Friends of Boston's Homeless is dedicated to helping people move beyond homelessness into stability.
  • Whether they work in the kitchen, distribute clothing, or assist with mock interviews, volunteers help ensure the quality of St. Francis' services for Boston’s poor and homeless.
  • More than 5,000 volunteers every year help Pine Street Inn provide shelter, housing, and other crucial services to homeless men and women. Donations of time and talent help us continue the mission of ending homelessness.

Landlord Incentive Program

This program provides benefits to landlords who rent to Boston households who are moving out of homelessness.

Benefits to landlords:

  • Signing bonuses
  • Payment for holding units during screening
  • Cleaning fees
  • Ongoing dedicated services for tenant
  • One number to call for referrals and during unit occupancy
