Murielle Cadet
Murielle Cadet comes from a very strong Haitian family, and she is incredibly proud of both her Haitian roots and her beloved home city of Boston. Murielle was homeless from 2012 to 2021, and now is part of a housing program trying to achieve her goals and acquire permanent housing.
Before becoming homeless, Murielle experienced undiagnosed mental health struggles, that ultimately lead to alcohol and drug addiction and her living on the streets. While unhoused and struggling with addiction, she looks back and is proud that she was able to maintain her sweet personality and her deep respect for all people, while also building a strong street family that helped her survive.
Murielle has been impacted deeply by gun violence throughout her life, especially with the tragic death of her beloved brother, Vladimir Cadet, at 18 in 1998. For all these reasons, and because these experiences, Murielle feels passionate about advocating for unhoused folks and telling her story to help others who are experiencing addiction, homelessness, mental health, and domestic violence. She strives every day to be a vessel of strength to her friends, family and community.
Murielle is a proud mother of five children, ages 12 - 21, and is endlessly inspired by her "three angels:" her grandmother, her mother, and her brother, who offer her a witness of strength, resilience, kindness, and gentleness.
