Bowdoin / Geneva Transportation Action Plan

We are working with the Bowdoin / Geneva community to develop design solutions to address pedestrian safety, traffic safety, and speeding on local streets.

Bowdoin-Geneva is a diverse, vibrant, and culturally rich neighborhood home to many. However, the neighborhood is challenged by issues such as vehicle speeding and lack of safe and comfortable access to schools, parks, and key destinations. From 2021-2023, we completed the Bowdoin-Geneva Transportation Action Plan to identify issues and opportunities to address speeding, transportation safety, and access.

It was developed in partnership with many City agencies, including the Boston Streets Cabinet, the Commission for Persons with Disabilities, and the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services. We're also engaged with neighborhood residents and the community. Stakeholders included Bowdoin / Geneva Main Streets, the Bowdoin Street Health Center, the Greater Bowdoin / Geneva Neighborhood Association, UP Academy, and the Marshall Community Center.

The timeline below outlines the previous projects and engagement leading up to our current Safety Improvement project, which aims to build on the safety improvement projects that were previously identified.
