A message from Commissioner McCosh: More reopening

A weekly message from Commissioner McCosh in support of the local disability community.

Dear Disability Community Members,

I have some positive news to share this week: metrics collected in Boston over the past few weeks have shown a slight improvement in the number of new COVID-19 cases and in the overall positivity rate of residents.

Therefore, Mayor Walsh has announced that the City will lift the existing 25% capacity restrictions on local businesses, and allow them to operate at 40% capacity. These changes will be effective as of Monday, February 8th.

While this is exciting news, I want to remind everyone that officials are being cautiously optimistic about reopening Boston. We still have a long way to go before the majority of folks have been vaccinated, so it is important to remain vigilant about wearing masks, social distancing, and hand washing.

We encourage you to keep updated about changes in reopening Boston, including a list of businesses with increased capacity limits. For updates on COVID-19 vaccines and testing sites, please visit here. Specific resources for residents with disabilities can be found here.

As always, please feel free to reach out to us if you need any information or assistance. You can dial 311 to reach City Hall, or call us at 617-635-3682. Our website is boston.gov/disability, and our email is disability@boston.gov.

Until next week, please stay informed, stay safe, and stay healthy.

Sincerely,

Kristen McCosh Signature

Commissioner Kristen McCosh
