RE: COVID-19, Temporary Practices
ATTENDANCE
In accordance with Governor Baker's March 12, 2020 Executive Order modifying certain requirements of the Open Meeting Law and relieving public bodies of certain requirements, including the requirement that public bodies conduct its meetings in a public place that is open and physically accessible to the public, the Public Facilities Commission (PFC) will be conducting its meetings virtually. This enables the PFC to conduct its usual business while adhering to public health recommendations and ensuring public access to its deliberations through adequate, alternative means.

These practices in effect since May 11, 2020 will remain in effect until further notice. Updates to these practices will be posted as appropriate.

Contract to Abacus Architects + Planners: To provide architectural design and construction administration services associated with the Building Envelope Repairs at the Family Justice Center project located at 989 Commonwealth Avenue, Allston.Contract Price: $214,120That the Director be, and hereby is, authorized to request from the Mayor, in the name and on behalf of the Commission, written authority to award a contract, pursuant to a publicly advertised request for the qualifications under M.G.L. c. 7C, sections 44-57 with advertisements appearing in the Boston Globe and City Record on March 16, 2020 and in the Central Register and COMMBUYS on March 18, 2020, to Abacus Architects + Planners, a Massachusetts general partnership with an office 119 Braintree Street, Suite 318, Allston, MA 02134. Under the terms of this contract, Abacus Architects + Planners will provide architectural design and construction administration services associated with the Building Envelope Repairs at the Family Justice Center project located at 989 Commonwealth Avenue, Allston. The term of this contract shall be 104 weeks from the date of execution at a cost not to exceed $214,120, including $75,000 for additional services, which is a fixed fee of 9.70% based on an estimated construction cost of $1,434,229.The Director is, also, authorized to execute such contract, in the name and on behalf of the Commission, upon receipt of said written authority from the Mayor.

Amendment to the Vote of December 18, 2019: Regarding a contract with NETCO Construction Project Managers, Inc., to provide owner project manager (OPM) services associated with the 2019 Massachusetts School Building Authority’s (MSBA) Accelerated Repair Program (ARP) at three (3) Boston Public Schools project located in the South End, Jamaica Plain and Brighton.Increase of $388,000That the vote of this Commission at its meeting of December 18, 2019, regarding a contract with NETCO Construction Project Managers, Inc., to provide owner project manager (OPM) services associated with the 2019 Massachusetts School Building Authority’s (MSBA) Accelerated Repair Program (ARP) project for repairs at three (3) Boston Public Schools located at:McKinley School, K-12, 90 Warren Avenue, South EndCurley School, K-8, 40 Pershing Road, Jamaica PlainMary Lyon School, 9-12, 90 Beechcroft Street, Brighton;be, and hereby is, amended as follows:By deleting the following words and figures: “at a cost not to exceed $20,000” and substituting in place thereof the following words and figures: “at a cost not to exceed $408,000, which is a fixed fee of 7.65% based on an estimated construction cost of $5,330,830.”The Director is, also, authorized to execute such amendment, in the name and on behalf of the Commission, upon receipt of said written authority from the Mayor.
