Board of Election Commissioners State Primaries

The Board of Election Commissioners will hold State Primaries on September 1 at 7 a.m.

For information as to the locations of polling places, contact the office of the Election Commissioners in Room 241, Boston City Hall, or visit the Election Department website.

  2. Removal and Depositing of mail-in voted ballots for September 1, 2020 State Primary

    Please take notice that the City of Boston will be removing State Primary mail-in voting ballots for partial precincts from their envelopes and depositing these ballots into a tabulator on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, beginning at 7 a.m., in the Iannella Chamber, City Hall located  at One City Hall Square, Room 550, Boston, MA 02201. The Iannella Chamber shall remain open until close of the polls on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Only early voting ballots received prior to Tuesday, September 1, 2020 will be removed and deposited in the Iannella Chamber. 

    This process will be open for public observation. Due to COVID-19, the number of observers permitted in the Iannella Chamber may be limited.  

    **Partial being described as only precincts containing a large number of ballots. All other ballots will be processed at the respective precincts.
