Virtual events in July

This month, we look at online events celebrating Independence Day and beyond.

As we all continue to struggle with the realities of social distancing and adjusting to the realities of life under covid-19, one of the major casualties has been group events and community celebrations.

Even as Massachusetts slowly reopens businesses and services, major gatherings continue to be on hold or even canceled, such as this year’s Boston Marathon. As we approach our annual celebration of the Fourth of July, we wanted to find ways of celebrating and educating, both for Independence Day and beyond. Below, we have listed some virtual events and classes we feel might interest you.

  • Boston USA offers a list of videos, same day events, and virtual education and resources to celebrate Independence Day. Of particular note is a same day broadcast hosted by the Boston Pops.
  • Trinity Lutheran Church is offering a series of free virtual concerts throughout the summer focusing on the works of Bach.
  • The Museum of Old Newbury will be holding a virtual reading of an impassioned speech by famous abolitionist and preacher Frederick Douglass.
  • Make sure to check the Boston Parks Virtual Summer Fitness Series, with Yoga, Dance, High Intensive Interval Training, and more!

More events are listed online. Be sure to browse and see what might fit your budget.  Stay safe, stay socially distant, and as always, reach out to us at the Employee Assistance Program if you have any more ideas or events for us to share!
