Nomination papers open for Retirement Board election

The Board will hold an election for the third and fourth members of the Boston Retirement Board.

It is an election year at the Retirement System.  There are two Retirement Board seats that must be decided by way of election.  Those eligible to cast votes include: active members, inactive members, and retired members (not beneficiaries). 

Please note that ballots will be mailed to your address of record at the Board.  You will have the option of mailing in a ballot or you may vote electronically.  If you have moved, and did not alert us, kindly contact the Board for a change of address form. 

  • Nomination papers:  Currently available in-person at Boston City Hall, Room 816, on Tuesdays or Fridays.  Additionally, nomination papers may be downloaded online. They must be returned with at least 20 eligible voters (active members, inactive members, and retired members) no later than 5 p.m. on July 24, 2020, at the office of the Boston Retirement Board.
  • Eligible candidate:  Any active member or retired member of the Boston Retirement System who successfully files nomination papers. 
  • Requirements for nomination papers:  Any active member or retired member of the Boston Retirement System may qualify as a candidate by filing with the Election Officer of the Boston Retirement System a nomination paper, or papers, containing the signatures and addresses of at least twenty (20) members or retirees of the Boston Retirement System.
  • Deadline for nomination papers:  Filed at Boston City Hall, Room 816, no later than July 24, 2020, by 5 p.m.
  • Voting method:  Paper or Electronic.
  • Election start:  August 24, 2020. 
  • Election close:  September 25, 2020.
  • Term:  October 1, 2020 – September 30, 2023.
