A message from Council President Kim Janey regarding COVID-19

At this time it is absolutely imperative that all of us adhere to public health guidelines so that we can succeed in flattening the curve.

As President of the Boston City Council, my priority during this incredibly difficult time remains to be uplifting and ensuring the safety and well being of Boston’s residents, especially those most at risk and often left behind, as well as our dedicated Council employees. I am pleased to share that the work of the Boston City Council has continued, without interruption even as our physical premises have remained closed for the last month. The Council is focused on the City’s response to COVID-19 and its recovery efforts. We also kicked off budget season this week!  To see a list of upcoming hearings and meetings click here. At this time it is absolutely imperative that all of us adhere to public health guidelines so that we can succeed in flattening the curve. This includes thoroughly covering coughs and sneezes, washing your hands frequently, physical distancing, and wearing a mask, glasses, and gloves when outdoors. Most importantly, please stay home whenever possible and only leave for essential items, like food or exercise.

In the coming days, we will enter into the most critical period of our COVID-19 response efforts. Sadly, we will see a sharp rise in the number of infections and deaths. It is at this time that taking these preventative measures and staying home when possible will be the most crucial. Please stay connected to friends and family via phone, text, email, social media, and video conferencing, and please take a moment to fill out your 2020 Census!
