Black History Boston: Beth Chandler
Today, we are proud honor the contributions of Beth Chandler, a fighter for Black women empowerment!
Beth Chandler became the President and CEO of YW Boston in 2018. YW Boston is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Before coming to YW Boston, Beth worked extensively to expand equity and address disparities.
Beth oversees programs that work to:- empower girls through a curriculum incorporating social justice education, positive identity development, and civic engagement
- train mid-to-senior level professionals to understand how their organization impacts and is influenced by overarching city systems, and
- support organizations to create the necessary cultural shift that will support inclusive policies and practices.
Previously, Beth served as the vice president of a non-profit helping urban public and charter schools close the achievement gap. Beth has also worked at the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation and Neighborworks America, which provides works on issues of affordable housing and community development.
