Traffic Advisory for September 15 and 16, 2018

Hub on Wheels and Other Weekend Events

Hub on Wheels and other special events taking place on Saturday, September 15, and Sunday, September 16, will impact traffic and parking in Boston.  People coming into the City to enjoy the festivities are encouraged not to drive their personal vehicles.  Information on Blue Bikes, the regional bike-share service, may be found at http://bluebikes.com and information on the MBTA may be found at www.mbta.com.  Walking is also a great way to move around Boston.

Saturday, September 15, and Sunday, September 16

The Hub on Wheels bike ride will take place on Sunday, September 16, beginning at 8 AM on Congress Street at Boston City Hall, with a related event being held on City Hall Plaza on Saturday, September 15.  An estimated 4,000 people are expected to participate in the bike ride.  There will be a 10 mile route and a 40 mile route.  Vehicle traffic will be banned from the 10 mile route only, which is expected to finish by 12 Noon.  The 10 mile route is as follows.

  • Congress Street at City Hall, straight onto Merrimac Street, left onto New Chardon Street, right onto Cambridge Street, right onto Storrow Drive westbound, to Soldiers Field Road, turn around prior to the Eliot Bridge, continuing onto Soldiers Field Road, exit to Fenway, to Charlesgate Overpass, to Boylston Street, left onto Park Drive, left onto Agassiz Road, left onto Fenway, left onto Boylston Street, right onto Charlesgate, to Commonwealth Avenue, right onto Arlington street, left onto Boylston Street, left onto Charles Street, right onto Beacon Street, left onto Bowdoin Street, right onto Cambridge Street, ending at City Hall Plaza.

 “Tow Zone No Stopping, Boston Police Special Event, Saturday and Sunday” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.

  • Cambridge Street, both sides, Court Street to New Chardon Street
  • Congress Street, City Hall side, North Street to State Street
  • Court Square, both sides, the entire length, inbound and outbound
  • Court Street, both sides, Washington Street to Cambridge Street
  • New Chardon Street, both sides, Cambridge Street to Merrimac Street
  • New Sudbury Street, both sides, Cambridge Street to Congress Street
  • State Street, both sides, Congress Street to Washington Street
  • Washington Street, both sides, Water Street to Court Street

“Tow Zone No Stopping, Boston Police Special Event, Saturday” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.

  • Congress Street, City Hall side, New Sudbury Street to North Street

“Tow Zone No Stopping, Boston Police Special Event, Sunday” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.

  • Cambridge Street, odd side, New Chardon Street to Charles Circle

Saturday, September 15

The Dance Mile will step off from City Hall Plaza at 1 PM and proceed right onto Cambridge Street, right onto Sudbury Street, right onto Congress Street, right onto State Street, to Court Street, right onto Cambridge, and conclude at 2 PM on City Hall Plaza.  

The South Boston Street Festival

  • East Broadway, between I Street and L Street, will be closed to traffic from 7AM to 6PM
  • K Street, between East Broadway and East Fourth Street will be closed to traffic from 7 AM to 6 PM

  • East Broadway, both sides, I Street to L Street

  • K Street, both sides, East Broadway to Emerson Street

The Saint Augustine Chapel and Cemetery 200th Anniversary

  • Tudor Street, from F Street to Dorchester Street will be closed to traffic from 8 AM to 8 PM

“Tow Zone No Stopping Saturday” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.

  • West Sixth Street, St. Augustine side, Dorchester Street to F Street
  • Dorchester Street, S. Augustine side, West Sixth Street to Tudor Street

The Uphams Corner Art and Health Street Festival.

  • Stoughton Street, between Columbia Road and Everett Street, will be closed to traffic from 9 AM to 5 PM

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Saturday 8 AM to 5 PM” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.

  • Stoughton Street, both sides, Columbia Road to Everett Avenue/Sumner Street

The Central Wharf Charity Block Party

  • Central Street, McKinley Street to Surface Road, will be closed to traffic from 2 PM to 10 PM

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Saturday 12 PM to 11PM” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.

  • Central Street, both sides, McKinley Square to Surface Road

The Boston Local Food Festival

  • Milk Street, from Surface Road to Atlantic Avenue, will be closed to traffic from 9 AM to 6 PM

The South Street Diner Customer Appreciation Day

  • South Street, from Beach Street to Kneeland Street, will be closed to traffic from 6 AM to 8 PM

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Sunday 6AM to 8 PM” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.
