Traffic Advisory for October 6-8, 2018

Special events taking place from Saturday, October 6, through Monday, October 8, will impact traffic and parking in Boston.  People coming into the City to enjoy the festivities are encouraged not to drive their personal vehicles.  Information on Bluebikes, the regional bike share service, may be found at http://bluebikes.com and information on the MBTA may be found at www.mbta.com.  Walking is also a great way to move around Boston.

Saturday, October 6

The Double Ten Parade will take place in Chinatown and Downtown Boston.

• An estimated 1,000 participants will depart from the Chinatown Gate on Beach Street at Surface Road at 10:30 AM and proceed on Beach Street, turning right onto Washington Street, crossing over Court Street, to the Washington Mall, and ending at City Hall Plaza.  Traffic delays should be expected in this area as marchers make their way along the route.

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Saturday” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.

• Beach Street, both sides, Hudson Street to Tyler Street
• Tyler Street, both sides, Kneeland Street to Beach Street

Revolution 250-Boston Occupied: An Insolent Parade, will begin on Long Wharf and proceed through Downtown Boston.

• An estimated 200 re-enactors will depart from Long Wharf at 9 AM, march up State Street, stop at the Old State House, turn left onto Devonshire Street, right onto Otis Street, right onto Sumer Street, right onto Washington Street, left onto Bromfield Street, left onto Tremont Street, right into the Boston Common.  Traffic delays should be expected as marchers make their way along the route.

Sunday, October 7

The Columbus Day Parade will take place in East Boston.

• Formation will be at Suffolk Downs/Waldemar Avenue.  The parade will begin at 1 PM and will proceed along Waldemar Avenue to Bennington Street to Day Square, to Chelsea Street, to Maverick Square, right onto Meridian Street to Central Square.  Streets along the parade route will be closed to traffic until approximately 3:30 PM.

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Sunday” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.

• Bennington Street, both sides, Walley Street to Saratoga Street; north side, Saratoga Street at Orient Heights to Neptune Road; both sides, both roadways, Neptune Road to Chelsea Street at Day Square.
• Chelsea Street, both sides, Day Square (at Jevelli’s Restaurant) to Maverick Street
• Maverick Street, both sides, Chelsea Street to Meridian Street
• Meridian Street, both sides, Maverick Street to Porter Street
• Central Square, both sides, south roadway, Meridian Street to Border Street
• Border Street, both sides, Maverick Street through Central Square to Condor Street
• Walley Street, both sides, Waldemar Avenue to Bennington Street

The Boston Athletic Association Half Marathon will begin in Jamaica Plain at 8 AM.

• An estimated 9,000 runners will make their way along the following route which will be closed to traffic from 7:30 AM through approximately 11:00 AM.  Pierpont Road in Franklin Park, Right on Jewish War Vets Drive, Continue on Circuit Drive, Continue on Forest Hills Drive, Right onto Arborway to New Washington Street, Continue on Pond Street, Continue on Jamaicaway, Continue on Riverway, Turn Around on Riverway just before Fenway, Continue on Riverway, Continue on Jamaicaway, Right onto RT 9 Eastbound Exit, Right on River Road, Left on Pond Avenue, Clockwise around Pond/Chestnut Street Rotary, Left on Chestnut Street, Right on Perkins Street, Left on Francis Parkman Drive, Right on Arborway, Continue on Forest Hills Overpass, Counterclockwise around Forest Hills Rotary, Right on Forest Hills Drive, Right on Circuit Drive, Follow Circuit Drive around backside of Devine Golf Course, Turn Around on Circuit Drive behind Devine Golf Course, Continue on Circuit Drive, Right onto Jewish War Vets Drive, Left on Pierpont Road, Right into Service Entrance to Franklin Park Zoo, Left at the Giraffe Exhibit, Continue via the path in the Franklin Park Zoo, Exit the Giraffe Entrance to the Franklin Park Zoo, Continue on Playstead Road, Left at Basketball Courts, Left into White Stadium, Finish at the 40 yard line of White Stadium.

• Pierpont Road, both sides, Glen Lane to Playstead Road

• Boylston Street, Copley Square side, Dartmouth Street to Clarendon Street
• Circuit Drive, both sides, Blue Hill Avenue to Morton Street
• Valley Gates/Pierpont road Area, both sides, Circuit Drive to the White Stadium entrance to the Franklin Park Zoo.
• Pierpont Road, both sides, Sigourney Street to Playstead Road
• Playstead Road, both sides, Walnut Street entrance to Pierpont Road
• Seaver Street, Franklin Park side, Walnut Avenue to Elm Hill Avenue

Monday, October 8

The Columbus Day Race for Women-Boston 10K for Women will begin at 12 Noon on Beacon Street, east of Charles Street, in the Back Bay.

• An estimated 5,000 runners will make their way along the following route which will close to traffic in Boston at approximately 11:45 AM with City of Boston streets reopening to traffic as the race progresses to the finish line.  Beacon Street, right onto Massachusetts Avenue, over Massachusetts Avenue Bridge, into Cambridge, onto Memorial Drive eastbound, turn around at Wadsworth Street, heading eastbound to Vasser Street were runners reverse direction on Memorial Drive, heading westbound, left onto the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge, Massachusetts Avenue, left onto Commonwealth Avenue, right onto Arlington Street, left onto Boylston Street, left onto Charles Street finishing between the center gate of the Public Garden and Beacon Street.

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Sunday and Monday” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.

• Beacon Street, Boston Public Garden side, Charles Street to opposite Brimmer Street

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Monday” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.

• Beacon Street, both sides, Charles Street to Clarendon Street (excluding Charles to Brimmer, Public Garden side – see above)
• Boylston Street, Public Garden side, Arlington Street to Charles Street
• Charles Street, both sides, Boylston Street to Beacon Street

Open Canal Street will transform the roadway near North Station and the TDBankGarden into a temporary pedestrian only walkway.

• Canal Street will be closed to traffic from 11 AM to 5 PM

“No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Monday 7 AM to 5 PM” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.

• Canal Street, both sides, Rip Valenti Way to Causeway Street
