Traffic advisory for October 13 and 14, 2018

The ALCS Games at Fenway Park, Mission Hill Road Race, Roslindale Day Parade, and other events and projects are happening around the City.

Special events and projects taking place on Saturday, October 13, and Sunday, October 14, will impact traffic and parking in Boston.  People coming into the City to enjoy the festivities are encouraged not to drive their personal vehicles.  Information on Bluebikes, the regional bike share service, may be found at http://bluebikes.com and information on the MBTA may be found at www.mbta.com.  Walking is also a great way to move around Boston.

Saturday and Sunday, October 13 and 14

ALCS Games at Fenway Park will impact traffic and parking. 

Saturday’s game is scheduled to begin at 8:09 PM.

Sunday’s game is scheduled to begin at 7:09 PM.

One hour before game time until approximately one half hour after game time the Boston Police Department will be closing the following streets to traffic:

  • Brookline Avenue, from Commonwealth Avenue to Beacon Street
  • Jersey Street, from Boylston Street to Brookline Avenue
  • Ipswich Street, from Boylston Street to Boylston Street
  • Van Ness Street, from Ipswich Street to Kilmarnock Street.

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Saturday and Sunday” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.

  • Jersey Street, both sides, Boylston Street to Brookline Avenue
  • Van Ness Street, both sides, Ipswich Street to Kilmarnock Street

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Saturday & Sunday 4PM to 11:59PM”

  • Boylston Street, both sides, Ipswich Street to Park Drive, except for HP Parking.
  • Brookline Avenue, both sides, Park Drive to Commonwealth Avenue
  • Burlington Avenue, both sides, Brookline Avenue to the Dead End, excluding HP
  • Fullerton Street, both sides, Brookline Avenue to Dead End
  • Ipswich Street, both sides, the entire length of the street
  • Lansdowne Street, both sides, Brookline Avenue to Ipswich Street
  • Overland Street, both sides, Brookline Avenue to David Ortiz Drive, excluding HP

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event HP Parking Only Saturday & Sunday”

  • Boylston Street, Fenway Park side, Ipswich Street to Richard B. Ross Way.

The underpass at Wolcott Square Bridge in Hyde Park will be closed Saturday and Sunday from 6AM to 10 AM to pressure wash the bridge.  Detours are:

  • To access Wolcott Square from Hyde Park Avenue/Milton Street, use Dana Avenue to Truman Highway to Neponset Valley Parkway.
  • To access Hyde Park Avenue/Milton Street, use Dana Ave via Hyde Park Avenue.
Saturday, October 13

The Play Brigade 5K Road Race will begin at 9 AM on Charles Street.  Streets along the following route are expected to be closed to traffic between 8:45AM and 10:30AM, with roads being opened up as the tail end of the race proceeds toward the finish line.

  • Route: Charles Street adjacent to the Boston Common, left onto Beacon Street, left onto Arlington Street, right onto Commonwealth Avenue outbound, left onto Charlesgate West, left onto Commonwealth Avenue inbound, right onto Arlington Street, left onto Boylston Street, left onto Charles Street.

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Saturday 5AM to 12 PM” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.

  • Charles Street, both sides, Boylston Street to Beacon Street
  • Beacon Street, Boston Common side, Charles Street to opposite Spruce Street

The John Winthrop School Fair will take place on Marlborough Street.  Marlborough Street, between Berkeley Street and Clarendon Street, will be closed to traffic from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

  • Marlborough Street, both sides, Clarendon Street to Berkeley Street

The Boston Book Festival will take place in Copley Square.  Dartmouth Street, between St. James Avenue and Boylston Street, will be closed to traffic from 6 AM to 8 PM. 

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Friday and Saturday 8 AM to 6 PM” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.

  • Boylston Street, Copley Square side, Dartmouth Street to opposite Boylston Street
  • Trinity Place, Copley Plaza Hotel side, St. James Avenue to the side entrance of the hotel.

The Mission Hill Road Race will begin at 9 AM and proceed along the following route.

  • St. Alphonsus Street at Puddingstone Park, left onto Hillside Street, left onto Pontiac Street, right onto Cherokee Street, left onto Hillside Street, right onto Parker Street, right onto Wensley Street, left onto Buckman Street, right onto Lawn Street, right onto Hayden Street, left onto Fisher Avenue, right onto Parker Avenue, left onto Calumet Street, straight onto Iroquis Street, left onto Sachem Street, right onto Parker Hill Avenue, right onto Parker Hill Street, right onto Hillside Street, left onto Darling Street, right onto Pequot Street, right onto Oswald Street, left onto Hillside Street, right onto, St. Alphonus Street into the Park.  Traffic will be delayed at intersections as walkers and runners make their way along the route.

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Saturday 7AM to 1 PM” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.

  • St. Alphonsus Street, both sides, Tremont Street to Calumet Street
  • Calumet Street, east side, St. Alphonsus Street to Hillside Avenue
Sunday, October 14

Formation for the Roslindale Day Parade will begin at 11:30 AM, and the parade itself will begin at 1 PM and proceed along the following route.  The parade route will be closed to traffic with individual streets reopening as the parade progresses.  All streets are expected to be reopened by 3 PM.

  • Washington Street, right onto South Street, left onto Belgrade Avenue, right onto West Roxbury Parkway, to Msgr. Finn Circle (Gottwald Rotary), right onto Centre Street, right onto South Street, ending at Walter Street.

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Sunday” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows.

  • Cummins Highway, even side, Lindell Street to Washington Street
  • Murray Hill Road, odd side, Florence Street to Washington Street
  • Firth Road, odd side, Florence Street to Washington Street
  • Bexley Road, odd side, Washington Street to Florence Street
  • Washington Street, both sides, Stellman Avenue to Cummins Highway
  • South Street, both sides, Washington Street to Belgrade Avenue
  • Belgrade Avenue, both sides, South Street to Roberts Street
  • Basile Street, both sides, Washington Street to Lindall Street
  • Robert Street, both sides, South Street to Belgrade Avenue
  • Walter Street, both sides, South Street to Symmes Street/Knoll Street; odd side, from Knoll Street to Primrose Street
  • South Walter Street, Fallon Field side, Robert Street to South Fairview Street
  • Belgrade Avenue, both sides, Roberts Street to West Roxbury Parkway
  • West Roxbury Parkway, both sides, Belgrade Avenue to Msgr. Finn Circle

The Autism Speaks Walk will take place within the Boston Common.  Parking will be restricted as follows.
