Pics in the Parks: Winter Challenge 1 - Weather
Our weekly photography clinic has weekly challenges to help you hone and improve your photography skills.
Weather
Goals:There are a lot of considerations when it comes to winter weather when taking photos in the parks. Look at the forecast and choose a good weather day to get outside and take some photographs.
Tips:- Pay attention to the temperature: Prepare for the cold. Bundle up. Dress in layers. Wear gloves. The change of temperature and moisture could cause condensation or fog on the lens of your camera. Also keep in mind that cold weather can put a damper on battery life.
- Look out for precipitation: Some of today’s smartphones have waterproof capabilities. But, in general, water can really ruin electronics.
- Pay attention to cloud cover and sunlight: Is it a bright sunny day or is a cloudy and gloomy? The striking blue sky can give great contrast to a winter weather scene even on days with no snow.
This week’s challenge is to take a photo in the park using the weather to your advantage.
Submit your photo to be included in our digital photo gallery by emailing Parks@Boston.Gov. Submissions may be used for future Boston Parks and Recreation Department marketing purposes.
