George Huynh named liaison for Fields Corner, Vietnamese community

George lives in Fields Corner where he was born and raised.

Mayor Martin J. Walsh announced today that George Huynh will join the Office of Neighborhood Services as the liaison for the Fields Corner neighborhood and Vietnamese community. In this role, George will serve as the primary contact for constituents and businesses looking to connect with the Mayor's Office, and will facilitate the delivery of services in collaboration with City departments.

“I’d like to congratulate George on joining the Neighborhood Services team as the Fields Corner liaison,” said Mayor Walsh. “He values the department’s mission of helping residents in the neighborhood and ensuring they have access to the virtual City services available to them, allowing the community to feel confident and connected to their local government. I look forward to him serving in this important role.”

The Office of Neighborhood Services (ONS) encourages, facilitates and maximizes citizen input and participation through service requests, neighborhood meetings, mailings, and emergency responses.

"I am delighted and honored to serve in this role, and to work with Mayor Walsh, who shares a strong connection to Dorchester. Growing up, I often felt overwhelmed by government processes, especially because my parents experienced a language barrier as immigrants from Vietnam,” said George Huynh. “I want to empower folks in the community so that they can access the resources they need to thrive and to keep Fields Corner—and Boston—lively."

George lives in Fields Corner where he was born and raised. At age nine, he found wonderful mentors from VietAID and Dorchester Youth Collaborative, where he learned to advocate for and support others.

With the help of loved ones, George attended Boston Latin School and then went on to graduate from Yale College with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science. Following graduation, he taught in Boston Public Schools and worked in legal services, as he also speaks Vietnamese and Spanish.

Outside the office, George enjoys playing video games and basketball.
