Council Shows Support for Boston Medical Center Nurses

Every day, nurses play a critical role in caring for patients and strengthening the health of our communities. The Council adopted a resolution expressing support for nurses at Boston Medical Center and their efforts to secure a fair contract through the collective bargaining process.

The resolution recognizes the more than 1,500 nurses at Boston Medical Center who provide high-quality, lifesaving care to patients throughout Boston and across New England. It highlights the important role these healthcare professionals play in supporting patient care, advancing public health, and serving families and communities.

Members of 1199 SEIU at Boston Medical Center have been engaged in contract negotiations advocating for fair wages, affordable healthcare, and safe working conditions. The resolution notes that these priorities are essential to retaining experienced nurses, maintaining safe staffing levels, and ensuring the continued delivery of high-quality patient care.

During this week’s Council meeting, the Council expressed its support for Boston Medical Center nurses in their efforts to receive fair wages, affordable healthcare, safe working conditions, and the respect and dignity they deserve.
