City Council supporting the first to respond

The City Council voted to adopt the resolution filed by Councilors Essaibi-George and O'Malley in support of S.2602 and H.4611.

The Council voted to adopt the resolution filed by Councilors Essaibi-George and O'Malley in support of S.2602 and H.4611, which would ensure that should any first responder (including any individuals employed as police, fire personnel, correction officers, dispatchers, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, nursing professionals, and all individuals employed and considered as first responders) contract COVID-19, their medical condition would be considered work-related and categorized as “emergency hazard health duty”.

“[Passing] this resolution would help to move this legislation forward, giving peace of mind to our first responders sooner rather than later,” said Councilor Essaibi-George.
