Boston City Hall lobby renovation underway

The lobby renovation – PFD Project 7097 – will include many exciting upgrades.

We will work on the renovation during off-hours and limit events in the lobby until we finish the project. The entrance for the lobby will stay open throughout the construction. We expect to complete a large amount of the project by April 2017.

In the next few weeks, the contractor we're working with will put up temporary enclosures and fencing. We plan to demolish the unused masonry desk and the lobby, and begin rough plumbing and electrical work.

  • Exciting new upgrades

    Separate Employee and Visitor entrances

Employees of the building with active and valid City ID cards may enter using new employee turnstiles. This will significantly reduce entry time.

    New Information Desk

Greeters will now have a central location to provide information to constituents and visitors before they enter.

    New Equipment Layout

We will remove the unused masonry desk. New millwork will provide an equipment cover and seating.

    New Coffee Kiosk

We will provide a location, seating, and coordinating millwork for our new coffee vendor.

    New Building Directory and Signage

The entry and elevator lobbies will have new directories and monitors. These will offer improved way-finding and City information.

    Lighting upgrade

New, efficient LED lighting will replace the outdated, existing fixtures. They will also complement and coordinate with the exterior lighting of City Hall.
