Be Connected: Stories from our employees at Registry
Each week, we will share updates, quotes and photos of the inspiring work that our employees are doing in service to our City.
This week's story is from the Registry.
The Registry is working hard to ensure residents are able to request birth, death, and marriage records online or by mail, and obtain them within a couple of days.
“It has been challenging helping families who have lost loved ones — many have never had experience providing information to a funeral home for a record or known how to request a death record,” says Registrar Patty McMahon. “The staff has been wonderful walking them through the process and answering their questions by phone or email.”
Having set up an appointment calendar for couples to come to City Hall and file for a marriage license while adhering to social distance guidelines, the Registry team has managed to see folks through some of their happiest moments, too.
As the City of Boston continues fighting the coronavirus, the Registry is working with DoIT, Treasury, and Property Management to develop new ideas to provide quality services for residents. And while the staff are rotating in and out of the office, they’re managing to support one another.
“A few of us went out on the plaza when the jets were flying over the hospitals. It’s the little things we share that really help.”
