Darien Johnson

Member, Task Force on Reparations

Darien Johnson, a Boston native, currently serves as the External Relations Director for Boston’s Higher Ground, where he leads strategic partnerships, fundraising, and community engagement initiatives.

Previously, Darien was appointed Executive Director of the MassHire State Workforce Board by Governor Maura Healey, where he oversaw statewide workforce development strategy. He also served as Head of Policy at the Black Economic Council of Massachusetts (BECMA), where he led the development and execution of the organization's legislative and advocacy agenda.

Darien was the Boston Regional Director for U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, where he cultivated relationships with key stakeholders and contributed to regional policy initiatives. He also played pivotal roles in both Senator Warren’s senatorial and presidential campaigns.

In addition to his professional roles, Darien has been appointed to the Baby Bonds Task Force by State Treasurer Deborah Goldberg. He serves as Secretary of Boston’s Black Men and Boys Commission and sits on the Associate Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of Greater Boston. He is also a former member of the Advisory Board for the Groundwork Project.
