The Chronic Disease Prevention and Control Division offers an education series and provides resources about nutrition and access to healthy food for better health and well-being. Learn more below about our efforts to combat chronic disease through education and local resources.
Healthy Eating Series
Our Healthy Eating Series offers free and engaging nutrition education presentations in the city of Boston. If you are a community organization in Boston, you can request our presentations for your community members, clients, or staff.
Requesting a Presentation:
We offer both in-person and virtual presentations. We also provide nutrition education at outreach events. If you are a community organization in the city of Boston and would like to request a presentation, please:
- fill out our request form, or
- email chronicdisease@bphc.org.
Our Current Healthy eating series Presentations include:
- "Eating Healthy on a Budget": Learn cost-saving skills to make the best healthy food choices for you and your family. We will share tools to help you prepare for your trip to the market.
- "Healthy Eating 101": Learn the basics about the food groups and how to build a healthy, balanced plate.
- "Reading Nutrition Labels": Learning to read nutrition labels can help you make more nutritious eating choices. Learn how to read the entire food label from the nutrition facts to ingredient list to the front of the package labels.
- "Rethink your Drink and Reduce Added Sugar": Do you know how much added sugar you consume daily? Learn how to identify added sugar in foods and drinks and skills to make healthier choices.
- "Swap the Salt": A diet high in sodium can lead to health problems such as heart disease, high blood pressure and stroke. Learn how to identify sodium in foods and reduce your sodium intake.
