Family Child Care Roadmap

The Office of Early Childhood created this roadmap for aspiring and established Family Child Care (FCC) providers. It is a step-by-step guide to navigate the process and ensure your business's successful start and/or expansion. In addition, this comprehensive plan outlines our Office's programs to help you establish a nurturing environment for children and a thriving business.

  1. Interest in becoming a Family Child Care (FCC) Provider (learn more about the different child care options).
  2. Join the Licensing Support Program to learn more about the requirements to open an FCC.
  3. Join the Child Entrepreneur Fund Training Program (CEF 101) to learn more about how to run your business.
  4. Join the Marketing and Communication Program (CEF 201) to learn more about business marketing. 
  5. Join the ASQ/Drive Program to get skills to conduct developmental screening for children. 
  6. Boston Healthy Child Care initiative  (BHCCI) offers program  physical activity and nutrition  
  7. Get your Associates or Bachelor degree for free!
  8. Apply to become a UPK FCC Provider
  9. Apply for S.P.A.C.E Grant to help secure a space to open a Child Care Center
