Audubon Circle Reconstruction

Audubon Circle 2018 work

Public Works reconstructed Audubon Circle in 2018. The project included:

  • sidewalk improvements
  • separated bike lanes
  • curb extensions
  • narrower travel lanes, and
  • street trees and other landscape improvements along Beacon Street.
SUMMER 2020 WORK

During summer 2020, the Transportation Department will extend the separated bike lanes from Miner Street to Kenmore Square. This will complete a high-comfort bike route between Kenmore Square and the Brookline town line.

September 2011 ACNA Meeting

A meeting was held on September 20, 2011, with the Board of the Audubon Circle Neighborhood Association. We addressed concerns about the loss of the median and the safety of pedestrian crossings. A six-foot wide pedestrian refuge island (similar to what exists today) has been added to the design at Miner Street. The refuge island, in combination with the addition of bike lanes, narrower travel lanes, new street trees, and new curb extensions, is intended to slow traffic and improve the comfort and safety of this pedestrian crossing.

The meeting also included a brief presentation by Boston Water and Sewer Commission on work they will be doing in 2012 to upgrade the water, sewer, and drainage systems in advance of the street reconstruction project:
