About DJ Bruno

DJ Bruno has been a DJ in Boston since 1987. He became known in the college scene in the late 80s to early 90s for mixing hip hop, reggae, R&B, and house music. In 1991, he began a residency at the Boston Loft after-hours club with Armand Van Helden. The following year, he started the Legendary Utopia Parties. Utopia still remains as one of Boston’s hottest deep house music events.

In 2006, Boston Magazine named DJ Bruno “DJ of the Year'' and in 2007, Weekly Dig awarded Utopia Sundays the “Best House Night in Boston.” With clubs not opened to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic, DJ Bruno decided to take his music virtual on Mondays from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on Fridays from 7 - 9 p.m. His motto is, “If we can dance together, we can live together." He is on a mission to spread this motto all over the world, whether it be virtually or in person. Follow DJ Bruno on Instagram @djbruno30.

DJ Big O

Born in Venezuela, and raised in Massachusetts, Oscar ‘DJ Big O’ Nunez, has used his knowledge of many different genres of music to create a larger than life persona as a top DJ and emcee in Boston. DJ Big O is a true expert when it comes to any Latin genre, and he is always able to captivate his guests by his exceptional mic presence. DJ Big O is outstanding at interacting and engaging with guests... and does so in a way that makes guests feel welcomed, and ready to have fun and dance all night long! Salsa y Control

Salsa y Control, a local small business with locations in both Allston and Cambridge, is one of the most beloved dance companies in the area, offering top quality and easy-to-follow instruction to get you on the dance floor in no time. Their classes provide a fun and welcoming environment for everyone of all levels. They also have performance opportunities where dancers are inspired to gain more confidence and reach their fullest potential. “Salsa y Control'' originated in 1999 with Johnny and Andres, two brothers who perform amazing duets with unique, intricate salsa footwork combinations. Salsa y Control later expanded to include partner dance performances with Johnny and Felicita. In 2003, the three established what we know today as "Salsa y Control Dance Company." Their drive came from the desire to inspire others to express inner emotion through the art of dance. In 2008, the Salsa y Control Dance Studio opened its doors in Allston under Andres and Leah. Today, Salsa y Control has grown to be one of the biggest dance companies in Boston with over 80 performing members for multiple dance teams and they continue to offer classes in Allston and Cambridge.

Shirley-Eustis Place Landmark Designation

Join Mayor Kim Janey and The Boston Landmarks Commission Friday, August 20, at 1:30 p.m. to honor the too often untold, unrecorded, and unrecognized history of enslaved people in Boston and on the Shirley-Eustis Place grounds.

August 20, 2021
2021-08-20T13:30:00 - 2021-08-20T15:00:00

Mayor Kim Janey, the Boston Landmarks Commission commemorates the designation of Shirley-Eustis Place in Roxbury as a historical landmark. With the Shirley-Eustis Houses well-known historical significance of former Governors Shirley and Eustis comes a hidden history that is often untold, unrecorded, and unrecognized. Ongoing research and oral history in Roxbury suggests that the lands were built, kept, and managed by enslaved people. Mayor Janey’s support and commemoration of the designation expands the history that is often centered in Boston.
