Salma Jama

Mayor's Youth Councilor

Salma Jama (she/her) is a first-time councilor from Boston Collegiate Charter School and a passionate advocate for her community. As a student interested in engineering and computer science, she believes in the importance of giving back and making a positive impact beyond the digital world. Salma joined MYC to find fulfillment in using her skills to serve meaningful causes.

Before her role at MYC, Salma gained valuable experience working with non-profits, where she worked with initiatives aimed at engaging youth in tech-related fields. She also honed her skills in debate, helping young people articulate their ideas and advocate for change. Through these experiences, she learned the power of collaboration and community engagement.

In her free time, Salma enjoys diving into competitive programming and exploring computational linguistics. Outside of her tech pursuits, she has a love for fashion design and enjoys writing poetry. With aspirations of leveraging technology for social good, Salma aims to create lasting change in her community and beyond.
