Emily Nasiff

Policy Director

With a background in law and engineering, Emily Nasiff Esquire is no stranger to the challenges women face in historically male dominated fields. She has been an advocate for women since high school when she worked on several initiatives to promote girls' involvement in STEM. Her favorite courses were Calculus 3 and A.P. Government so it is no wonder that she chose to attend Olin College of Engineering for her undergraduate degree and then went on to earn her law degree from Boston College Law School. At Olin she concentrated in Human Centered Design which inspired her to pursue a law degree in order to learn how to apply Human Centered Design principles to policy work. Emily believes strongly that government has the responsibility to positively impact people’s lives and enable them to not only survive but to thrive.

When she entered law school Emily knew she wanted to join the City of Boston upon graduation. She was honored to be a Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics Summer Fellow in 2022 after her 1L year. She spent her next summer as an intern with the Equity and Inclusion Cabinet which she enjoyed so much she stayed on during her final academic year. Before joining the cabinet full time she became a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and worked on the Harris for President Campaign as a Youth Organizer in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Outside of City Hall, Emily can be found with her nose in a book, catching up on pop culture, or connecting with her family and friends. Her shih tzu, Max, is a faithful companion who never fails to garner them friends wherever he goes. She’s always seeking an adventure whether that’s biking to a new small business in Boston or traveling to explore a new place farther from home. The soundtrack to these adventures is always a combination of Beyoncé, a podcast, classical music, or the musings and laughter of whoever she’s with.
