Open Streets Boston

Family-friendly, pedestrian-focused events that transform City streets into vibrant, car-free boulevards where people can dream, play, and explore.

During Open Streets events, neighborhood streets are closed to vehicular traffic to create room for community and play. The half-day events allow local businesses to expand into the street, and to safely make space for music, games, bicycling, community tabling, and more.

Request for Proposals: Open Streets Event Coordination Services

The City of Boston is seeking the services of an event planner or coordinator to work with City departments, community organizations, vendors, and subcontractors to organize up to five Open Streets events in Boston neighborhoods per summer and fall seasons of calendar years 2025, 2026, and 2027.

Open Streets Boston intends to attract thousands of residents and visitors to these signature events to help provide a platform for Bostonians to explore their neighborhoods and interact with community members. The majority of these routes will serve as a platform for Bostonians to explore their city via walking and biking, with an appropriate amount of programming – music, food, cultural organizations, commerce and government information booths.
