Reopen Boston Fund

We're offering COVID-19 reopening grants for small businesses in the City of Boston.

The City of Boston is committed to supporting small businesses through the reopening of our economy.  The Reopen Boston Fund will help small businesses put in place the necessary public health guidance requirements needed to reopen.

This fund is intended to support businesses with a majority of employees working in close proximity to their clients and each other. Please note: We will not consider professional service businesses, including those that are able to work from home or any online businesses, for our grants.

Eligibility

To qualify, you must meet these qualifications:

Your small businesses has 25 or fewer employees, including the business owner

Your brick and mortar space is in the City of Boston in a commercial space or the business owner lives in the City of Boston and is a mobile business doing business in Boston.

Businesses must be registered with, in good standing with, and operating in the City of Boston (excluding chain or corporate franchises).

In your business, you must physically engage closely with the public through a direct service. Industries include:

  • Arts and entertainment
  • Childcare
  • Event spaces or bars
  • Fitness
  • Food businesses
  • Personal care, including but not limited to salons and barber shops, spas, and beauty services
  • Retail
Information you need to apply:

Please provide proof of your commercial address or proof of residency of the business owner . Your commercial address must match your proof of address, which can be your Business Certificate, a utility bill, or a government-issued document.

We need your vendor ID from the City of Boston. You must have a Vendor ID BEFORE you apply. You can sign up for a Vendor ID through these instructions:

RECEIPT UPLOADS

You are required to provide legible receipts or proof-of-expenditures validating the appropriate use of these funds. Failure to comply may result in exclusion from future City funding opportunities.
