As part of the district’s Long-term Facilities Plan, this new facility for the merged Shaw-Taylor will expand access to:

quality academic and enrichment opportunities for all students, and
inclusive education settings for multilingual learners, and students with special needs.

As part of the invitation to the MSBA’s Core Program, the City proposed $50 million in the Fiscal Year 24 Capital Plan to support the project. The MSBA has moved forward the project into the Feasibility Study which began in Fall 2025 and should be completed at the end of Summer 2026.

Community members are invited to participate in the design process.

The Shaw-Taylor Facility Design Study is officially underway! The launch of the feasibility study marks an important milestone for the school community, signaling both progress and possibility. Over the next 16 months, students, families, staff, neighbors, and community partners will have multiple opportunities to help shape the vision, design, and future of our school. Our goal is to meet families and residents where they already gather and ensure community voices are included in planning the future Shaw-Taylor School building.

We will be joining the Mattapan CDC to present on the Shaw-Taylor project and share engagement opportunities moving forward.

Thank you to those who came to visit our booth at the Mattapan Unity 5K and shared your thoughts on the future Shaw-Taylor School building.

Field Day: June 18, 2026

Engagement workshop session held at the Walker Playground pavilion during the Shaw-Taylor Field Day. The design team and BPS led guided activities with Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade teachers, parents, and students to hear what they believe is special about the Shaw-Taylor community and their hopes for the new Shaw-Taylor.

Educational Planning Workshop: June 26, 2026

Engagement workshop session held at the Lower School. MLP Integrated Design, the educational planning consultant within the design team, led discussions with the K-6 education staff to hear their visions for the new Shaw-Taylor school.
