Eric James

Employment Specialist

Eric James was born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and migrated to Boston at the age of 1. He graduated from Brighton High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth. James has a strong background in public service, having previously served as a middle school teaching fellow for Neighborhood House Charter School and as the Mattapan Liaison for the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services.

James recently transitioned into his role as Employment Specialist for the Mayor's Office of Returning Citizens, where he is committed to supporting formerly incarcerated individuals in their reintegration into society. With a deep passion for advocacy, James is focused on helping returning citizens access sustainable employment opportunities, overcome barriers to success, and build brighter futures. His work is driven by his belief in the power of second chances and the importance of supporting individuals as they reenter the workforce and contribute positively to their communities.

In his free time, James continues to volunteer for various youth programs and enjoys playing chess, spending time with his friends and family, and riding his bike around the City.
