Nate Hinchliffe
Nate Hinchliffe serves as the Director of Park Maintenance for the City of Boston Parks and Recreation Department, where he ensures that green spaces across the city are clean, safe, and accessible for all residents.
Beginning his career with the department as an intern in 2003, Nate has held several roles over the years, including administrative assistant in the Finance Division, manager of the Fund for Parks, and Manager of Purchasing and Inventory for the Department. In October 2023, Nate stepped into his current role as Director of Park Maintenance.
Nate is particularly proud of his work on projects that promote resiliency, including the installation of flood barriers along the East Boston Greenway to protect the vulnerable neighborhood from rising tides and storm water. He has also led efforts to modernize systems within the maintenance division, professionalizing operations by implementing data tracking tools to drive decision-making and improve efficiency across park maintenance.
Outside of work, Nate enjoys sailing in the summers, skiing in the winters, traveling, and has a deep appreciation for Boston’s park system. Nate resides in Roslindale with his wife and two children.
