Lawson Park Improvements

Park Established 2019

Robert G. Lawson Park, situated at the intersection of Columbus Ave and Washington Street in the heart of Egleston Square, is set to undergo a redesign. This transformation aims to enhance public accessibility, upgrade the tree canopy and landscaping, and incorporate green infrastructure. The redesign envisions a distinctive park at the entrance to the Square that reflects the vibrant spirit of the Egleston Square community while honoring Mr. Robert G. Lawson. Mr. Lawson, a respected business owner, entrepreneur, and mentor who invested in the area, will be remembered through this project.

The redevelopment will eliminate usage barriers, connect the Park and Atherton Plaza through design and raised crosswalks, and improve green spaces. The project will involve substantial construction, including enhanced lighting, improved water access, and increased accessibility. These changes are expected to positively impact local residents and businesses and benefit the environment at this bustling urban intersection
